"What is it? Is it an escape plan?" he asked hopefully. "Once our friend over here is better, I say we all break out of this place," he said.

"Yes, it is an escape plan", Kinch said softly so that only Lebeau and Newkirk could hear. "But we have to keep it a secret from everybody but the three of us. If word gets out to the germans, they could shoot us".

Kinch flushed a little and nodded. "Yeah. Sorry I didn't think of that. I guess I got a little excited and carried away. Of course we'll wait. Besides, it will give me a chance to do something before we leave".

Kinch grinned and reached into his jacket. He pulled out a chunk of wood that was begining to take the shape of a gun under his skilled carving attempts. "I'll put some black shoe polish on it when I'm done and at a distance, it should fool that big kraut".
